Re-Centering in God’s Word

12. LOST  HOPE IN THE RESURRECTION

You are in error, Jesus says, because you do not know the power of God. Regarding the resurrection of the dead--have you, _____, not read what God said to you, “I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob”? God is not the God of the dead but of the living.  [IB Mt 22:23, 30-32]    (CwJ)

Jesus says:  I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this, _____?  Yes, Lord, I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.  [IB Jn 11:24-27]    (CwJ)

Jesus says:  I solemnly tell you, ____, there is no one who has left home or dear ones for the sake of the kingdom of God who will not receive many times as much in this present time and, in the world to come, eternal life."  [Lk 18:30]  (CwJ)

With Job of the Old Testament, I, _____, say: Oh, that my words, “I know that my Redeemer lives!”, were cut with an iron chisel into the rock forever. I know that my Redeemer will be the last one standing upon the earth!  And even after my skin has been eaten away, yet in my flesh, I will see my God.  With my own eyes, I, _____, will see God standing near me and God will redeem me. Oh, how my heart yearns for that day.  [IB Job 19:23-27].    (CwJ)

All I, _____, want is to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and to share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to share in his resurrection from the dead unto eternal life. [Php 3:10-11]   (CwJ)

If I, _____, have been united with Christ in his death, I will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.  For I know that my old self was crucified with him so that I, _____, should no longer be a slave to sin--because whoever has died in Christ has been freed from sin. [Ro 6:5-7]    (CwHS)

"Where, O death, is your victory?   Where is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.  But, thanks be to God! God gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.   Therefore, _____, stand firm! Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you, _____, know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. [I Cor. 15: 55-58]    (CwJ)

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy, he has given me, _____, new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade--kept in heaven for all of us.    [1Pe 1:3-4]     (CwG)

Having Heard God,  Speak To God

Lord Jesus, help me to never be in error about the resurrection.  Strengthen my belief in your and my resurrection and provide me with a deep sense of the  eternal life of love and community which is alive in me even now as part of your new creation.  Help me die to myself each day, each hour, looking with trusting love to your will and not what I might be feeling.

Jesus help me know the power of God. Spirit, reinvigorate my belief in the Father’s words:  “I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob”? Implant in my mind Jesus proclamation that God is not the God of the dead but of the living.  Thank you Father for giving me the Holy Spirit who constantly  confirms to my tender soul the truth the resurrection unto eternal life and makes be bold in proclaiming to those whom he has commissioned me to shepherd.
