Re-Centering in God’s Word

Instructions: Hand Over All “Accomplishments” To God.  Write down any accomplishments that absorb conversations, cause you to boast or make you feel superior to others. Learn to be  vigilant and humble

Hear the Spirit Speak God’s Word to You

I am the true vine.  No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.  Neither can you, _____, bear fruit unless you remain in me.  I am the vine; you are the branches.  If you remain in me and I in you, you, _____, will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing.  [Jn 15:1-6]  (CwJ)

Clothe yourself, _____, with humility toward everyone. "I, your God, oppose the proud but give grace to the humble."  Therefore, humble yourself, _____, so that I may lift you up with my mighty hand, as I so desire to do!  [IB 1 Pe 5:5-6.]  (CwG)

With Humble Faith, Speak with God

Abba, how foolish to brag and boast.  You are the Creator/Potter, I, the created clay, recently formed by your hands and given life by your breath.  Yet, I shine my “accomplishments” hoping others will glorify me.  Then, mindlessly, I too worship my golden calves.  Shatter these idols and illusions.  From the dust, remold me in your image and restore your Spirit to me.  Then, this temple of the Holy Spirit will radiate your goodness and people will glorify you, proclaiming your name: Transformer of Sinners, Restorer of Humanness (Christ likeness).

Merciful Abba, here is my list of “accomplishments.”  I cannot believe that I puff myself up for such things.  They will rust or the moth will consume them.  If I must brag, may I boast on judgment day: “Christ in me and I in Christ–-no, not I, but Christ–conquered my proclivity to sin and filled me with his goodness.”

When re-centered in God’s word, thank God by telling God how much you appreciate being taught wisdom from his very mouth.

One lives by every word that comes from the

mouth of God and not by bread alone.

     [Dt 8:3; Mt 4:4].

God is coaching eternal-life skills and restoring your strength to fight in the ever present now to build up God’s kingdom on earth as it is heaven.  The fruit of the Spirit will blossom in you, bear fruit, and glorify God.
