A Prelude to Jesus’ Sanctification Prayer

I am the Good Shepherd, _____;  my  sheep know my voice and follow me. I have other sheep and I must gather them also.  They will hear my voice and follow me, just as you, _____, now hear my voice and follow me. You, _____, are one flock with them and I  am  the One Shepherd of all of you.  I have laid down my life for you, _____, and for all my sheep.  [IB John 10:11ff]

My prayer is not that you take _____ out of the world but that you protect _____ from the evil one. _____ is not of the world, even as I am not of it. Sanctify _____ by the truth; your word is truth.  [IB Jn 17:15-19]

Father, I have revealed you to ______ whom you gave me out of the world. ______ was yours; you gave ______ to me and _____ has obeyed your commandments. Now _____ knows that everything you have given me comes from you. I pray for _____. I am not praying for the world, but for ____ whom you have given me, for _____ is yours.  All I have is yours, and all you have is mine and through _____ is my glory revealed.

I will remain in the world no longer, but ______ is still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect _____ by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that  _____ may be one as we are one.  [Jn 17:9-11]

Father, I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that _____ may have the full measure of my joy.  I have given _____ your word and the world has hated _____, for _____ is not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take _____ out of the world but that you protect _____ from the evil one.  [Jn 17:13-15]

Father, my prayer is not for _____ alone. I pray also for those who through _____’s words  will put their faith in me. May they all be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. [Jn 17:20-21]

I have given _____ the glory that you gave me, that _____ may be one as we are one.  I in _____ and you in me, may _____ be perfectly one.  Then the world will know that you sent me and that you loved _____ even as you loved me.    [Jn 17:22-23]

Father, _____ is your gift to me; and my desire is that _____ may be where I am, so that _____ may look upon my glory, the splendor you gave me because you loved me long before the creation of the world. [Jn 17:24-25]

Righteous Father, although the world does not know you, I know you, and _____ knows that you have sent me.  I have made you known to _____, and will continue to make you known to _____ in order that the love you have for me may be in _____ and that I myself may be in _____.  [Jn 17:25-26]

Postlude to Jesus’ Sanctification Prayer

The Lord, Jesus, is my shepherd, I shall not want. The Good Shepherd leads me to green pastures and pure refreshing waters.  The Lord, Jesus, restores my soul and leads me in right paths for his name’s sake and that of his Father. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you, Good Shepherd, are with me; your rod and your staff—they comfort me.
