Charge & Blessing upon Jesus’ Disciples

Spirit Centered Prayers

O Spirit, closest friend, engraft me into Jesus and increase in me his connectedness to the Father so that I may become ever more one with the Father, as Jesus so ardently prayed.  [Jn 17:20-22]    (CwHS)

O Creative Holy Spirit, may I bask in your inner life of joy, peacefulness, thoughtfulness, tenderness, and love with the Father and the Son.  (CwHS)

O Spirit, Creator of Love in my heart, may the warm, gentle relationship between Abba, the Son and you, Holy Spirit, melt all harshness and coldness in me.

O Spirit, Tree of Eternal Life, may your life giving fruit blossom in me of little regard in the world of power.   May your compassion, kindness, mercy, goodness, and purity become mature fruit in me and nurture others in your life giving character.  Help me also see that to pursue worldly fame and fortune can only starve my soul.  Then, a star shall shine in the universe that reflects your love and nourishes others.    (CwHS)

O gentle Author of the Scriptures, fill my mind with your truths so that my daily micro-contemplations and micro-meditations will be full of your revealed wisdom and holiness. Teach me to love the Psalms and to be nourished by them each day and guide me in the gospel and all Scripture so as to know the mind of Christ. And may good fruit flow forth from this wisdom and reflect your compassion, purity, and goodness in my relationships with others.   (CwHS)

By you, O Spirit, may my greatest aspiration be to become more like Jesus in all my thoughts, words, and deeds and may my greatest joy be that he becomes more while I become less.  [IB Jn 3:29-30.]   (CwHS)

Charge

Jesus suffered outside the city gate to make us compassionate and pure through his own blood.  Let us rejoice in this and fear not to bear disgrace for him.  For here, we do not have an enduring city. Instead, because of him, we are looking for the city that is to come through him.  And let us remember to share cheerfully both the fruit of the Spirit and our material goods with others, because God is pleased with such generous hearts. [IB He 13:14-15 & 2 Cor 9:7.]

Final Blessing

Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.  I do not give to you as the world gives.  My peace I give you; my peace will remain with you!  May God, my Father, by the Spirit, make all grace abound to you, ____.  May your Father, the God of peace, make you rich in every way so that in all things and at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.   [IB Jn 14:27, He 13:14-15, 2 Cor 9:8-9.]    (CwG, CwJ, CwHS)
